I guess you know that HDR is a somewhat misunderstood term. I have seen some very beautiful images created with Photomatix Pro. Sometimes, or more accurately, all too often, the details enhancer tone-mapping is used to create a “Grunge” look that is very popular. In the hands of a serious artist this can produce magical results. At the same time, I think that the majority of these images are over-processed. I am not a fan of the extreme tone reversals and skies that are darker than the foreground. Also, as a professional I can not afford to have artifacts in my images.  As you probably know, HDR was invented to overcome the limited dynamic range of digital cameras. I try to use the technique in that context. At the same time, I have recently seen some fantastic HDR images that are causing me to reconsider everything. More on that soon.
